A new school year for WHALES!

The 2007-2008 school year has just started, and we're excited to start training a whole new batch of Watershed Heroes!   Now there are many ways you can participate in WHALES, as a student, teacher, volunteer, sponsor, or partnering agency.   See how you can get involved in this exciting outdoor education program.   Come out to one of our upcoming field trips to see what WHALES is all about:

  • May 29: Final Project: Community in Action with Orange HS
  • June 3 & 4: Final Project: Community in Action with Costa Mesa HS
  • June 9: Final Project: Community in Action with Santiago HS
  • June 10: Marine Life and Pollution with Chavez HS

Background:

We believe every high school student can be a "Watershed Hero!" That's why Coastkeeper created W.H.A.L.E.S.: Watershed Heroes- Actions Linking Education to Stewardship. The program is designed to introduce high school students to watershed and ecological concepts through in-class exercises and field trips at no cost to schools.

2007-2008 WHALES Participants:

  • Costa Mesa High School
  • Santiago High School- Garden Grove
  • Orange High School
