Garden Program
Orange County Coastkeeper and Inland Empire Waterkeeper have both been hard at work in 2006. View a summary of our 2006 accomplishments.

A few 2006 highlights... Coastkeeper completed two major projects, the Rhine Channel Remediation Alternatives Project and the Orange County Coastal Watersheds Citizens Monitoring Project. Meanwhile, the Inland Empire Waterkeeper advocated for improved water quality in the upper Santa Ana River Watershed.

Coastkeeper is currently looking for a person to fill a full time position running our Orange County Nurseries Water Quality Improvement Project.

Candidate Background
The candidate for this position should have a master's degree and a background in the physical sciences along with the ability and desire to conduct frequent fieldwork throughout the Orange County area on a flexible schedule to meet project needs. The person in this position will work with the O.C. Coastkeeper Programs Director and a Technical Advisory Committee to develop the monitoring and quality control plans for the project; supervise, train, and schedule volunteers and staff; and run our lab to meet the project deliverables.

Skills and Abilities
Good organizational skills will be essential to coordinate water monitoring and sample delivery to our contract lab with rain events along with running additional water quality tests at the Coastkeeper lab in our office. Additional project tasks include developing a project database, conducting statistical data analysis, and report writing. This is an excellent position for a motivated individual to run a large scale research project.

Benefits
Starting salary is $35,000 per year with full benefits including paid medical insurance.

Native Garden
Orange County Coastkeeper is currently seeking a candidate to fill a part time position as a Project Manager to construct, operate, and maintain several Coastkeeper Gardens. The Gardens project will include several 1-2 acre water conservation demonstration gardens located throughout Orange County.

Candidate Background
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies, Geography, Ecology, Horticulture or other related field. Professional experience should include familiarity with non-profit operations, resource development, and community- based volunteer programs. Construction and landscaping knowledge is a plus.

Skills and Abilities
The candidate in this position must have a strong desire to work in public education, the ability to create collaborative relationships, and the skills to organize the project’s design and construction. Additional project tasks will include budgeting, project monitoring, and report writing.
