So you can talk the talk, but can you walk the dock?

Show your love of the water by attending a free training from this year’s Dockwalker Program. Since 2000, Dockwalkers have promoted clean and safe boating practices to keep California’s marinas, waterways, and ocean clean and healthy.

It’s all about boater awareness.

Dockwalkers go directly to the source by hitting the docks, marinas, launch ramps, marine supply stores, boat shows and special events.

Their mission is to simply interact with boaters to share information and educational materials. It’s a great way to promote clean waters in Orange County and remind the public and boaters that safety and the environment go hand-in-hand.

We believe in the Dockwalker program as it coincides with our efforts for swimmable, fishable, drinkable and sustainable waters. For example, our Eelgrass Restoration Project will greatly benefit from clean and safe boating practices and in-turn both efforts will improve the water quality of the harbor—win win!

The free training provides:

  • An overview of environmentally-sound boating practices.
  • Information about how to conduct Dockwalking.
  • Educational materials that Dockwalkers will distribute including the 2015 boater kits.

The boater kits include:

  • Latest edition of Southern California’s Boater’s Guide.
  • An oil absorbent pillow to capture oil leaks and drips.
  • Clean and safe boating resources.

Upcoming trainings are just around the corner. Sign up and start walking.
