“Only those people that have directly experienced the wetlands that line the shore…can appreciate their mystic qualities. The beauty of rising mists at dusk, the ebb and flow of the tides, the merging of fresh and salt waters….” Governor’s Task Force on Marine and Coastal Affairs, “Delaware: Wetlands,” 1972.
Whether they are wetlands, estuaries, harbors, inlets, or bays, the interplay between water and land make these places unique areas deserving of protection. Rich with life, these waterways provide each of us a window into the landscape and natural ecology of an Orange County long since passed. Coastkeeper is dedicated towards educating the public on the benefits of these natural areas, ensuring equal access, and actively advocating for the protection and restoration of our coastal heritage.
