Town Hall meeting on proposed Poseidon desalination plant

October 15, 2019 @ 7:00 pm

Join Coastkeeper for a Town Hall meeting in Huntington Beach to prepare for the upcoming Regional Water Quality Control workshop on the proposed Poseidon desalination plant

  • A major decision regarding the future of the proposed Poseidon desalination plant is on the horizon; Educate yourself and encourage decision makers to do the right thing
  • Orange County Coastkeeper opposes the proposal to construct a giant, polluting desalination plant that will negatively affect local residents, the environment and marine life
  • Keynote speaker: Damon Nagami, Natural Resources Defense Council Environmental Attorney

WHAT: Join us to defend our quiet neighborhoods and clean beaches from Poseidon’s unneeded, expensive and polluting proposal. Attend a Town Hall meeting to prepare for the upcoming Regional Water Quality Control Board workshop where residents will have a chance to tell board members what they think.

WHY: The Regional Water Quality Control Board will be holding a workshop about Poseidon on Friday, Dec. 6, specifically to take public comment on the proposed plant. The board is expected to then hold a hearing in early 2020. We want Huntington Beach residents to be prepared to speak out on the proposal to construct a giant, polluting desalination plant close to our neighborhoods and beaches. Orange County Coastkeeper opposes this development because we don’t need the water and it will harm our marine environment, will leave local ratepayers holding the bag, and bring noise and air pollution to our community.
