Orange County Coastkeeper is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit environmental organization dedicated to protecting water quality and promoting watershed resilience through education, advocacy, research, restoration, and enforcement. Since 1999, Coastkeeper has worked to achieve waters that are swimmable, drinkable, fishable, and sustainable for all.
Overview
The Education Coordinator ensures smooth execution of Coastkeeper’s year-long education programs by coordinating schedules, managing communication with teachers, and supporting field experiences. This role combines outdoor education with behind-the-scenes planning, great for someone with both organizational strengths and a love of hands-on teaching.
Responsibilities
- Lead field trips and classroom programs
- Coordinate communication and logistics with school partners, community partners, and other
- organizations
- Maintain accurate data records and evaluations
- Track program milestones and deliverables
- Support outreach to recruit new schools and participants
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience working with students in educational or environmental settings
- Strong organization, time management, and communication skills
- Comfortable working outdoors in active environments
- Willingness to work occasional early mornings or weekends for events
- Ability to work well in a hybrid work environment
- Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented
- Flexible and able to adapt to shifting priorities and deadlines
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively across teams
Compensation & Additional Info
- $25 per hour
- Part-time, up to 29 hours/week, hourly
- Typical work week: Approximately 6 hrs/day, Monday to Friday (some Saturdays required)
