Our education programs provide hands-on environmental science experiences for students across Orange County, connecting classroom learning to real-world ecosystems. We believe access to nature is a right, not a privilege, which is why we provide this service at no cost to students, parents, or teachers.
Too many kids in Orange County—especially those from Title I schools—grow up without meaningful access to nature. They learn about watersheds from textbooks, not field trips. And without real-world connections to their environment, future generations may lack both the knowledge and the sense of stewardship needed to protect it. We know how impactful even a single day at the beach can be when you’re young, as that’s how many of our team’s passion for the environment began.
While our participation numbers were lower during the 2024-2025 school year than in recent years, likely due to a shifting political climate and concerns for personal safety, we still made thousands of meaningful connections with students across the county. Over the past school year, our education programs served 5,793 unique students with a total of 101 in-class lessons and 58 field activities!
This summer, we’re taking a minute to step back and appreciate all the great moments we shared with Orange County’s curious and adventurous next generation of environmental stewards. Click the button below to read the full visual report of last year’s education programs.
