Orange County Coastkeeper Adds Jacqueline Neumann to Legal Team

Graduate of Whittier Law School signs on to fight water pollution

ORANGE COUNTY, March 1, 2016 – Orange County Coastkeeper, an organization that protects fishable, swimmable and drinkable waters in Orange County, dives into 2016 with Jacqueline Neumann stepping into its legal department. With the addition of Neumann, Coastkeeper’s legal department now features two full-time attorneys.

Prior to joining Coastkeeper, Neumann earned her bachelors degree at the University of Arizona and her law degree from Whittier Law School. She prepared herself for this opportunity by completing Whittier’s Environmental Law Concentration, a competitive program that trains the next generation of environmental attorneys.

A welcome addition to the successful Coastkeeper legal team, Neumann assists Senior Staff Attorney Colin Kelly in enforcement proceedings, compliance, and advocating Coastkeeper’s position at regional meetings.

Kelly runs Coastkeeper’s Environmental Law Clinic at Whittier Law School, which provides real-world experience in environmental advocacy to a select group of local law students. These students learn the intricacies of environmental law and how local, state and federal regulations impact the environment and the people who rely on and enjoy inland and coastal areas.

A pillar of the legal department, Kelly’s stormwater enforcement program has resulted in over 50 cases and a 100 percent success rate. Coastkeeper looks forward to another successful year of enforcement and advocacy with Neumann joining the charge.
