Matt received an M.A. and B.A. in American studies at California State University, Fullerton, where his research focused on environmental history, technology in American society, and consumerism. While attending CSU Fullerton, Matt managed the school’s radio station and produced audio-visual content for the university. His background in American cultural history and media production led him to Orange County Coastkeeper, where he is responsible for developing engaging and informative communications material.

His passion for environmental conservation came at an early age when he would visit the picturesque landscapes of West Coyote Hills and Corona Del Mar. Since then, he’s found an even deeper appreciation for the oft-forgotten urban green spaces that provide climate change mitigation, human health benefits, and recreational opportunities.

In his free time, Matt enjoys shopping for vintage clothing, experimenting with film photography, and snowboarding in Big Bear.
