How Our Intern Anna Fights for Clean Water!

All year round, Orange County Coastkeeper offers competitive legal internships that allow the next generation of environmental lawyers to get hands-on experience fighting for clean water. We want you to meet one of our first interns of 2018, Anna Sanchez.

Anna’s interest in environmental law sparked when she became a mother. Her son was born with birth defects as a result of several factors – including air and water pollution. Now, she is driven to protect the health of children like her son by protecting the environment.

Anna graduated from University of California Riverside and is currently in her second year at Pepperdine School of Law. There, she serves as the President of the Environmental Law Society and has also clerked at Earth Justice and other non-profit organizations.

“I wanted to intern for an organization that protects the water in my community through environmental law litigation. Additionally, I like Environmental Law because it is a valuable tool that underrepresented communities have to hold individuals accountable for their contribution to pollution in the area and pressure agencies to enforce the law.”

We are looking forward to working with Anna to protect clean water and helping her pursue her career goals.
