Oysters are essential to maintaining healthy waterways, resilient coastlines, and thriving ecosystems. Yet they rarely get the spotlight they deserve. That’s why OC Coastkeeper is launching its inaugural Oysterpalooza!
Since 2024, our growing community has recycled more than 23,000 pounds of oyster shell from local restaurants and restored over 1,800 native oysters throughout Alamitos Bay, Huntington Harbour, Seal Beach, and Newport Bay, and we’re just getting started.
This August, Oysterpalooza will bring together restaurant partners, sustainable vendors, Indigenous leaders, environmental advocates, and community members for a one-of-a-kind celebration of oyster restoration, coastal resilience, and local waterways.
As we finalize event details, we’re currently seeking event sponsors and sustainability-minded small businesses interested in being part of this exciting inaugural event.
Please contact Taylor Voegelie (taylor@coastkeeper.org) or Kaysha Kenney (kaysha@coastkeeper.org) for any questions about Oysterpalooza!
