Orange County Coastkeeper Encourages Local Residents to ‘Imagine a Day Without Water’

  • Coastkeeper partners with Municipal Water District of Orange County for national water awareness campaign
  • “Imagine a Day Without Water” educates communities about the impacts of water issues

WHAT:

Orange County Coastkeeper will join forces with the Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC) and many other organizations across the nation for “Imagine a Day Without Water,” an annual outreach campaign hosted by The Value of Water Campaign. By participating in this national education campaign, Coastkeeper will highlight how water is essential, invaluable and in need of investment.

Coastkeeper Garden Director Marianne Hugo, along with local water experts and advocates, will participate in a series of videos to amplify the message of water’s great value in the community. Visit MWDOC’s YouTube channel to learn more.

WHY:

Coastkeeper hopes to drive the community to reduce water consumption in the region. With a forecast of an exceptionally warm and dry winter in Orange County, it is important for the local community to embrace water conservation both inside and outside the home.

Over 700 organizations across the U.S. are taking advantage of this outreach opportunity to educate their communities about water issues that affect them, and provide important information needed to make smart and sustainable decisions about their local water supply. Investing in our drinking water and wastewater systems and raising awareness on these issues is essential in doing our part to conserve water.

QUOTE:

“Connecting with the community about the important role we play in keeping our water and ourselves safe and healthy is essential,” said Orange County Coastkeeper’s Garden Director Marianne Hugo. “I want everyone to rethink their water habits and begin using this precious resource more wisely.”
