The environmental organization will offer $1,000 scholarships to uplift the next generation of ocean conservationists and scientific divers.
In celebration of World Ocean Day (June 8), Orange County Coastkeeper is proud to announce the launch of its new SCUBA Scholarship Program, designed to help build the next generation of ocean conservationists and scientific divers.
Through the program, selected recipients will receive $1,000 toward scuba training, certification, and essential diving gear. The scholarship may be applied to any certification level, from Open Water Diver through Scientific Diving, helping make scuba training more accessible to both beginners and those pursuing professional environmental careers.
By investing in scuba education, Coastkeeper aims to strengthen the local environmental workforce and empower more community members to participate in marine restoration, monitoring, and conservation efforts. The organization strongly encourages individuals from underserved and underrepresented communities to apply as part of its commitment to making ocean conservation as inclusive and equitable as possible.
“For me, learning to dive completely changed the course of my career and deepened my connection to the ocean,” said Kaysha Kenney, Marine Restoration Director at Orange County Coastkeeper. “I’m excited that this scholarship will help open those same doors for the next generation of scientific divers, restoration practitioners, and environmental leaders.”
