On August 11, Orange County families enjoyed a beach party for a cause – all in the name of protecting our swimmable, fishable and drinkable waters.

Clean water warriors joined us at Huntington State Beach – armed with their favorite floatable devices. Families enjoyed our waters with body surfing, boogie boarding and paddling out for surf lessons from Wavehuggers, the top surfing school in Southern California.

Children hunted for treasures while removing debris from the sand with a beach cleanup scavenger hunt. Families competed for prizes with a sandcastle competition and water bucket race.

After a full morning of enjoying our swimmable waters, families enjoyed a catered lunch from Chipotle and beverages from Suja Juice.

Making an Impact for Clean Water

Together, we raised nearly $2,000 to support clean water and collected 20 pounds of trash from the beach.

A special thank you to everyone who participated in our first-ever Waterkeeper Alliance SPLASH Swell Fest to benefit Orange County Coastkeeper. We hope the event inspired more people to rally together to protect our waters and aquatic life.

Waterkeeper Alliance SPLASH Event Series

Our Swell Fest was part of the Waterkeeper Alliance SPLASH Event Series, presented nationally by Toyota. The national program was designed to raise funds for local Waterkeeper organizations and build awareness for the Waterkeeper movement and mission.

Thank you to our local sponsors Wavehuggers, Chipotle and Sujua Juice for making this event possible. For more information on the SPLASH Event Series, presented nationally by Toyota, please visit www.splashseries.org,
